Nail of the Day: Essie Butler Please

essie-butler-pleaseEssie’s Butler Please is a beautiful shade of royal blue! Unfortunately, it is not the easiest to work with. The first coat went on very streaky and uneven. Also, when I tried to even it out it kind of bunched up! Fortunately the second coat helped to smooth things out a bit. I’ve never experienced this with Essie polishes, so I’m not sure if I got a bad one or this shade is just like that. Nevertheless, I love the way it looks on my fingertips!

Nail of the Day: Essie Tart Deco

essie-tart-decoIt’s been ages since my last Nail of the Day post! Mainly because while on I was on my low-buy for the last couple of months, I really hadn’t been purchasing any nail polish. I also have not been polishing my nails consistently. Anyway, today’s shade is an oldie but goodie, Tart Deco by Essie. This is a coral shade with a mix of pink and orange. I love colors like this and the formula is a dream! I know it’s supposedly the end of summer, but I’m not ready to pull out the dark colors yet. This color is a definite spring/summer staple!

Nail of the Day: Essie In the Cab-ana

A couple of weeks ago, I did a post on Essie’s First Timer nail polish from their Resort Collection. Today’s nails are also from that same collection, but this one is called In the Cab-ana. Excuse my poor paint job, I was rushing. Poor paint job aside, isn’t this a gorgeous color! It is like a cross between aqua and turquoise blue. I don’t have any other colors like this in my collection. This shade makes me want to lie out on a tropical island with my hubby, a good book, and a Mai-Tai. (Isn’t that what summer’s all about?) This shade also lasted about 3 work days on me without chipping (which for me is saying a lot).

Nail of the Day: Essie First Timer

essie-first-timer

It’s been awhile, I know! Sorry for my little leave of absence, I had a death in the family and traveled a little bit. I am back now, so I promise I will make up for it!

Today’s nail of the day is a beauty. Essie’s First Timer is part of their Resort Collection which they usually release every year around this time. I absolutely love this color! It is definitely a bright green, but it has turquoise undertones, making it different than any other polish I own. Upon first seeing it, I thought it was similar to Essie Mojito Madness (click HERE to see), but this is lighter, brighter, and more blue. I personally really like Essie’s formula, and this one was no exception. It applied well and wore for a few days before chipping. I also purchased In the Cabana from this collection, but I haven’t tried it yet. When I do, I’ll be sure to post a picture here on the blog or on Instagram (username: SimpleBeautyYT).

Nail of the Day: Essie Cascade Cool

Who knew Pepto-Bismol pink could be so cute? Essie Cascade Cool is like the perfect blend of pink and purple. It stands out enough to get noticed, but its still office appropiate. Right now, I have this on my fingers and toes and I don’t want to take it off. The formula of this shade was nice, maybe slightly runny, but nothing too bothersome.ย The picture above is 2 coats and a top coat.

I love this shade! What do you think?

Nail of the Day: Essie Mojito Madness

So, my recent green nail polish obsession led me to pick up Mojito Madness by Essie. The formula for this polish was nice and easy to work with; not too thick or thin. On the picture above, I used 2 coats and a base and top coat. The color went on pretty opaque. I’m not sure what I think about this shade on me. In person, the color looked a little lighter in the bottle. On the nails, this looks like a Starbucks green. I think that I kind of like the shade on me, but not really loving it.
What do you think? Have you tried Mojito Madness yet?

Nail of the Day: Revlon Dreamer

20120620-202928.jpg
Today’s manicure features Revlon Dreamer as a base and Essie Set in Stones on top as an accent. Revlon Dreamer is a gorgeous pastel periwinkle color. When i purchased this shade last week, I was planning on getting Essie’s Lapis of Luxury, but i saw that this color was very similar and I decided to try it instead. Revlon runs for about $5 while Essie is about $8. This shade was slightly watery which made it messy to apply, but the color was opaque. The wear time is pretty good. I was able to keep it on 3 days without it chipping. 3 days is good for me because my work is hard on my hands.
I love the way this turned out. What do you think?
