Battle of the Brands: Too Faced Melted Liquified Lipsticks vs. L.A. Girl Glazed Lip Paint

DSC02039-impThe Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipsticks are starting to pop up everywhere now! With super cute packaging and bright bold colors, its no surprise that they took off. Recently L.A. Girl Released Glazed Lip Paints that look very similar in packaging and color selection to Too Faced. In fact, both ranges contain 6 shades that look very similar at first glance. So which one should you spend your money on? Keep reading to find out!

Round 1, Packaging: Outside packaging of both products are pretty similar, colored squeeze type tubes with cute writing. The Glazed Lip Paints are shiny, while the Too Faced packaging is matte. However when you remove the cap, the Melted Lipsticks have a sponge type applicator versus the normal squeeze tube top for the Glazed Lip Paints. Some people don’t like the sponge type applicators, but I happen to. This type of sponge tip helps to control the liquid product, making it much easier to apply than the Glazed Lip paints. Therefore for me, Too Faced wins this round. Winner: Too Faced

Round 2, Application: Both the Glazed Lip Paints and Melted Lipsticks are liquid lipsticks, which can tend to be a little messy. However, the Too Faced version is slightly thicker in consistency than the Glazed Lip Paints. I have to be extra careful when I apply the Glazed Lip Paints because they are a little on the thin side and come really quickly out of the applicator. I think if L.A. Girl used the sponge type applicator, it would help the product be a little less messy. On the other hand, the Melted Lipsticks are easy to apply neatly because of the tip and consistency. I don’t really need to clean up my lips after applying the Melted Lipsticks, whereas I’ve been using baby wipes to clean up the excess from the Glazed Lip Paints. I found that the Glazed Lip Paints are better applied by squeezing onto the hand and then using my finger or a lip brush to apply to the lips. Winner: Too Faced

Round 3, Performance: Both products are really pigmented so you only need a small amount of product. Also, for both products, the color that you get on your lips, is the same color as the tube. I prefer the colors of the Too Faced ones more than the L.A. Girl ones, but I really like both. I just think that the Glazed Lip Paints are brighter and not as easy to pull off. However, if you prefer the much brighter lip, you might prefer the colors in the Glazed Lip Paint range better. As far as wear time goes, the Melted Lipsticks last at least 6 hours on me which is awesome! What makes it a little more amazing is that they don’t dry down to a matte finish like a stain, they maintain a satin, slightly creamy finish throughout wear. The Glazed Lip Paints don’t claim to be long wearing, but they last about 4 hours on me which is still pretty good. The main difference between the two products is that the Glazed Lip Paints are high gloss and the Melted Lipsticks are not. It’s a matter of preference which finish you like most, but I prefer less glossy finishes, especially when wearing brights.

In my opinion, both products are relatively comfortable on the lips throughout wear. They are not super drying, but not moisturizing either. With both products, I felt like I need to keep an eye on what they looked like in between my lips because they can cause that little disgusting line that you sometimes get from stickier lip products. Personally, I didn’t find that to be too much of a problem. Overall for performance, these products are neck and neck, but for me Too Faced wins again. Winner: Too Faced

Round 4, Price: The Too Faced Melted Liquified Lipsticks retail for $21 each at stores like Sephora and Ulta. The L.A. Girl Glazed Lip Paints can be purchased from their website (HERE) for $4 each. I’m pretty sure these have not hit the stores yet. Hands down, the Glazed Lip Paints win the price battle! Winner: L.A. Girl

Champion: Overall, I think both products are worth checking out if you like liquid lipsticks. Although, I liked Too Faced better in almost every category, your thoughts might be completely opposite depending on how you like your lippies. For me this battle really came down to the finish of the product, colors, and ease of application. That’s why Too Faced Melted Liquified Lipsticks will be taking home the Championship Belt in this Battle of the Brands!

Awesome review! Even though everyone and their mama claim Too Faced is everything, I still feel some type of way trying to spend $21 for lipgloss/lipstick. I need LA Girl lip glazes though!!

Great review! They are pretty neck and neck, seems more a matter of your own preference for the winners, totally understandable. I can’t wait to see the LA Girl lip glazes here!
