Staple Hair Product Review Series: Shea Moisture Curl & Style Milk

I know it’s been a minute since my last staple hair product review, but I was trying to wait until I repurchased this product. I still don’t actually have this product in my stash, but I wanted to get this review out of the way. I still love it, I’m just trying to use up some of my other products.

Shea Moisture Curl & Style Milk is a conditoner that can be used on wet or dry hair. I use it to refresh my hair when I think it needs a little moisture. It retails for $10-$11 and can be purchased at Walgreens or Target.

Key Ingredients: coconut oil, neem oil, silk protein

Product Texture/Consistency: thick and creamy

Product Claims: This product claims to detangle, condition, and control curls while restoring body and shine.

How the Product Measures up to the Claims: I don’t use this product to detangle my hair, but sometimes when I refresh with this, I will rake my fingers through certain areas of my hair. For that, it works well. Because of the consistency of this, I don’t think that it would be the best detangler on wet hair. It does live up to it’s claims in the conditioning and controlling curls department. This definitely adds moisture to my dry hair and helps to tame my frizzies.

How I Use This Product: I usually use this product to refresh my wash & go every couple of days. I either apply it after misting my  hair with water, or I apply it right on to completely dry hair.

Overall Thoughts

Pros:

  • easily accessible
  • relatively inexpensive
  • pleasant smell
  • creamy consistency
  • paraben, mineral oil, and silicone-free (great ingredients!)
  • multi-use product
  • works well with other products
  • it doesn’t weigh my hair down too much

Cons:

  • I haven’t found any yet!

Have you tried this product? If so, what are your thoughts on it?
