Tip Tuesday #10: Nude Lip Tips

Nude lips look like they should be easy, but for some ladies a nude lip can be very intimidating. The perfect nude lip can often be harder to accomplish than a bold, bright lip. Keep reading for a few tips to help you perfect your nude lip!

Exfoliate: Lighter lipsticks can draw attention to dryness and flakiness on the lips. Exfoliating before applying a nude lipstick is essential. You can use a lip scrub, or scrub your lips manually with a damp washcloth. Make sure to apply a lip balm after exfoliation.

Color Choice: When choosing a nude lip color, look for colors 1-2 shades lighter than your natural lip color. Going too light can result in that “dead” look. Too dark and it’s no longer a nude lip.

Lipliners: Don’t be afraid to use lip liners! Lip liners can make almost any nude lipstick more wearable. Pick a lip liner similar to your skin tone or slightly darker, and it will help the nude lipstick have a more natural transition to the rest of your face.

Lip Gloss: Lip gloss can help to tone down a nude lip or warm up/cool down the color. For example, if your lipstick looks a little too cool toned for you, applying a warmer lip gloss on top will help to correct that.

Thanks for the tips, Ayesha. This is actually one of my favorite routes to go when it comes to lipsticks. I tend to be afraid of color with my darker skin tone. Reccently for this look I have been using the lipglass by MAC in the color Chai.
